well, yeah, im sposed to be doing sastera now,
but i passed by the living room computer and read an article on the seranggoon dorms.

and i cant help but epxress my opinion here,
cuz i think it's horrible man.

no, not the plan for the dorms equal to horrible,
but Singaporeans' responses are, goodness, what?

i mean, let's see, yes ive been skimming through it and just letting it go,
but it's horrible how we still have those stereotypes and treating them like that.
alright fine, we can justify there are some foreign workers who are not angels,
but so can we say about other people, other Singaporeans.
it's just the fact that they are foreign workers that every incident gets blown up,
and im not stating that i dont sympathize with any victims, i do, very much,
but it's just about the fact that the issues connecting with these foreign workers are just,
goodness, let's treat them okay alright?

alright, firstly, what?
build plantings to cover the road off from the residential areas?
build high walls?
have pickup points and dropoff points, and curfew of 1030?
dude, they're not prisoners, they're not animals, they're human. fullstop.
they're yes, working for our benefits, believe it or not,
we're taking them for granted here alright, it's like,
put Singaporeans first? okay, fine, that's what the gvt always does,
but which Singaporean would happily raise their hand,
and say, alright, i'll work to clean the rubbish dump,
i'll go work at the construction site, i'll sweat and burn there under the sun,
and get all the shrewd expressions and looks from passers-by,
who thinks i smell and im dirty, because why? i helped to construct the city.
no, it's not bloody well an exaggeration here, it's reality.

and i dont mean to be politically insensitive here, but hey,
i think it's time we shld stop babying Singaporeans.
alright, let's take your point, it's gonna drive down the prices of the residential units,
but it's not fair to treat them like that,
and if you're thinking about safety of the people,
why is it safe to build it in hdb areas but not seranggon area?
because hdb relative to seranggoon are not so well off?

and what really ticks me off, is how we treat these 2 grps of ppl:
foreign workers vs foreign talents.
it's the total opposite, two extreme sides, two very different treatments.
it's like, one's on the negative side, the latter's on the positive side,
and we Singaporeans in general, we are in the grey area,
who, in general, are siding more to the positive side.
i mean, just look at how people treat these foreign workers.
no one can deny the differing treatment, can they?
and you can argue that the foreign talents have brains we need,
but so do the foreign workers, they're not stupid, some have their degrees,
some are saving up money for further studies,
and they're still helping us like how the foreign talents are,
just in a different area of nation construction,
which, i believe, and yes, maybe im assuming (which i still believe is right),
is what Singaporeans dont wanna do.

so yes, there you have it, my thoughts on all these things.
sometimes, the view of the majority is not always right,
not when it's riddled with stereotypes and beliefs based on flawed assumptions.

i think it's time we Singaporeans mature,
and appreciate them more, rather than looking at them shrewdly,
and taking them for granted or treating them like prisoners,
because they are, after all, contributing to our nation's development,
and again, i emphasize, in an area, where labour is of shortage,
and where Singaporeans do not desire their jobs.

i think it's right that we should treat them well,
just as we do to the foreign talents.

my thoughts and opinions, shoot me if you want,
but yes, i believe i'm right.

fullstop.
